I placed myself last..Not any more

Over the years I placed myself last.
It was the need of others
That came to me first
And I let go myself.
I never said I need help
Not wanting to burden
Those whose burden I carried.

I thought if I can do something,
For someone,
And I didn’t
Then I am not whole.
It was difficult to break free
For it was me who
Was imprisoned, By me.

I do not regret
What happened in the past.
For the hand of life
Goes forward not back.
I do not live in my past
For I have nothing left there
It is over.

What I have is today
To be me, to be happy.
I have my today to do
What I want.
To live without regrets.
Like a cloud
That can shade the sun.

I can’t offer you
My tomorrows
For destiny
Is not in my hands.
I offer you
This moment
With me.

I offer you my soul
To keep and
To nurture
To cherish and
To understand
Till tomorrow
And start all over.

I can’t promise
You worldly luxuries
But I can promise
Love beyond means,
Understanding,
The need to be you,
And no shackles.

I need not want much,
But a cosy den,
Where we can be,
What we want to be
Free from burdens
And sure of knowledge
That love knows no bounds.

ride to unknown.
ticket to heaven.
fire to keep me warm

meal to satisfy hunger.
drink to quench thirst.
day to celebrate.
Each day.
